THE VALUE OF A GOOD SCHOOL
Why your district matters, even if you don't have kids

Any parent knows that school districts are important when buying a house, but even buyers who don't have kids should be aware of the affect that schools have on a property's purchase price and resale value.
In it's 2006 survey of homebuyers and sellers, the National Association of Realtors found that 27% of buyers cited the quality of the school district as a factor influencing their choice of neighborhood. Another 19% cited convenience to the schools as an influence.
"If you're in a situation where all things being equal, the house in the better school distrrict might be easier to sell. It can be a selling point, in other words", according to the article.
